  15. <p>     DIED. FRANK WELLS, 62, president of the Walt Disney Co.; killed
  16. in a helicopter crash while on vacation; in central Nevada.
  17. Credit for the near magical revival of Disney in the '80s rests
  18. with chairman Michael Eisner and the less ballyhooed Wells,
  19. the company's day-to-day manager. Wells was named president
  20. in 1984, after years at Warner Bros. During his Warner years,
  21. he attempted to climb the highest peaks of all seven continents--only Everest had eluded his reach when he arrived at Disney.
  22. Once there, he oversaw the company's resurgence, most conspicuously
  23. in its traditional businesses of running theme parks and making
  24. animated features, including such recent hits as Beauty and
  25. the Beast and Aladdin.
